Giving Back

Giving Courageously is more than just opening your wallet. It is about considering causes that you are passionate about and becoming part of their growth and healing. It is about purposeful and intentional giving.

Intentional Giving connects us with the Receiver. It can be as simple as connecting, even very briefly, with that person on the street corner holding up the tattered sign saying, “Homeless and Hungry. Need Help.” It is about focusing on seeing that person as a person with their own struggles that you are offering a small respite to. This doesn’t mean you have to feel obligated to give to every person with a sign you encounter. Giving is always a choice. When you choose to give, to whatever organization, or to whomever, simply stop for a moment and see them, offer a kind word or a brief prayer in your heart. Giving is about connecting and wishing someone well.

Seeing people and organizations as intricate strands of the web of life we are all part of means that what we do for one of us, impacts all of us. Each time we take a step to better ourselves or the world in which we live contributes to a deeper transformation of the world in which we live. Step by step the choices we make either connect or serve to further divide us. Intentional Giving is a philosophy that helps open our hearts to the people and world around us, which in turn helps us feel better.
Here are some of the organizations I have contributed to that have pulled on my heart strings. I am drawn to protecting animals in the wild and the most vulnerable among us. This is a dynamic list that will continue to be updated with great organizations who are dedicated to making our planet safer for all creatures, including this amazing planet we call home.

Elephant Rescue

Elephant Rescue works on saving elephants from hunters and poachers, and stopping the sale of ivory, which encourages hunting for profit. They work toward keeping the animals safe in their natural habitat.

Greenpeace

Greenpeace is an activist organization that promotes planetary health and environmental awareness.

Critter Pass Ranch

Critters Pass Ranch is a family run animal rescue organization in central California. This is a beautiful mom and pop type shop. They take in strays of all types, including those who are physically challenged. Love Claire & her kids! They have a beautiful story.

Noah's Ark

Noah’s Ark is an animal sanctuary situated on 250 acres of land just outside Georgia. Their mission is to provide sanctuary for injured, abused and orphaned animals in a beautiful and safe environment.

Humane Society

The humane society fights for humane treatment of animals, domestic and in the wild. Their motto is: “We think Big. We are fearless. We stand up and fight for all animals who are suffering.”

Hope with a Mission

Homelessness is becoming an ever increasing reality that is difficult to witness. There are so many reasons that someone might find themselves without a home. Sometimes it is a drug habit they just can’t shake. Other times people have hit a really rough patch in life. For some, being homeless ultimately becomes a way of life. Solving homelessness is a complex problem. I love the steps this organization is taking to hit the challenge head on. For people who are wanting a safe place from the streets, and who are looking to get back on track, these tiny homes and communities offer safety, respite and help. It sounds like this is just the beginning of their outreach.

FIKISHA

Fikisha helps youth in need through better education (scholarships), mentorship and community development.

Boy with a Ball
Women's Journey Foundation

The Women’s Journey Foundation has a mission. They are dedicated to raising the self-esteem of girls and women, and in their newest affiliation with the Boys & Girls Clubs, they have added little boys into the mix. As a former board member, I can attest to the difference this organization makes in the lives of all it serves.
